Hair Myths…..How True Are They?

Lighten-your-hair-with-lemon We asked AKS Colorist and health and wellness guru about a few hair myths. We wanted to know, are they true? Q. Will squeezing lemon in hair actually give you highlights?

A. If you want chemical free all-natural highlights go head and squeeze some fresh lemon directly in your hair for some sun-kissed highlights. It's also a great way to add some shine and strength as lemon has high content of vitamin C and some minerals.

Q. Will chlorine turn hair green?

A. It's the presence of copper in the pool that causes hair to turn green, not chlorine. I usually advise my clients to rinse there hair with cold water before dunking their locks into chlorinated water. It helps to coat and seal the cuticle layer of the hair, making it hard for any chemical that's in the pool to penetrate the hair. Always rinse and condition your hair after swimming to protect your haircolor.

Q. Should you be changing up your shampoo and conditioner every couple months?

A. Changing your shampoo and conditioner with seasons is required to have healthy hair as our hair is constantly changing with climate change. Switch it up to have healthy, bouncy, vibrant and smoother looking hair.
